The world has lost two treasures this week: Doug Marlette and Lady Bird Johnson. I've enjoyed Marlette's cartoons for as long as I can remember, and always read them first when I get my copy of "Christian Ethics Today".
And Lady Bird Johnson was one of those remarkable Texas ladies. I love this quote by her, looking back at all she'd accomplished:
"I sometimes look back and almost say to myself: 'Gee, was that really me? Did it all happen to me?' It was a wonderful life," Mrs. Johnson once told a magazine interviewer. "It took vigor and forbearance and a lot of elasticity. But it was an absolutely wonderful life."
